A Medical Billing and Coding Specialist’s main focus is on converting a medical procedure, diagnosis, or symptom into specific codes for submitting a claim for reimbursement. As a CPB and SPC professional, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

– Accurately locate documentation in the patient record to support coding and billing process

– Accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures

– Submit claims for reimbursement based on payer policies and procedures

– Coach providers on the best documentation practices to support quality coding and optimal reimbursement

Global Health Institute will offer review classes for Medical Billing and Coding Specialist in Fall 2026.
