Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique Course

The IV Certification course provides comprehensive sterile compounding and aseptic technique training that consists of hybrid instruction, live (hands-on) skills training and competency testing (40.0 contact hours and 4.0 CEUs). The course textbook is required for this course. A printable certificate and CEU credit will be award upon successful completion of course requirements, including documentation of training hours and evaluation of CPE Activity.

Description: This course is designed to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding and aseptic technique procedures based on current USP<797> requirements. The course requires comprehensive training that consists of hybrid (online/in-class) instruction, live two day training and competency testing. This includes, but is not limited to: reading and video viewing, on-line home study assignments, quizzes, and two written exams and two lab exams. Hands-on training includes: aseptic garbing and hand washing, hood cleaning, large and small volume parenteral preparation, ampule preparation, etc.

Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician/pharmacy technician trainee; or registered pharmacist/pharmacy intern; or be enrolled in or have completed an ACPE Accredited or ASHP/ACPE Accredited Pharmacy Technician program; or have a minimum of six months of pharmacy experience. Preferred: one or more years of sterile compounding experience.

Communicate via email including sending attachments

Be willing to learn how to communicate using a discussion board and upload assignments to a classroom website
Be comfortable uploading and downloading saved files
Have easy access to the Internet
