Description: This course is designed to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding and aseptic technique procedures based on current USP<797> requirements. The course requires comprehensive training that consists of hybrid (online/in-class) instruction, live two day training and competency testing. This includes, but is not limited to: reading and video viewing, on-line home study assignments, quizzes, and two written exams and two lab exams. Hands-on training includes: aseptic garbing and hand washing, hood cleaning, large and small volume parenteral preparation, ampule preparation, etc.
Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician/pharmacy technician trainee; or registered pharmacist/pharmacy intern; or be enrolled in or have completed an ACPE Accredited or ASHP/ACPE Accredited Pharmacy Technician program; or have a minimum of six months of pharmacy experience. Preferred: one or more years of sterile compounding experience.

- Communicate via email including sending attachments
- Navigate the World Wide Web using a Web browser such as Google Chrome
- Use office applications such as Microsoft Office (or similar) to create documents
- Be willing to learn how to communicate using a discussion board and upload assignments to a classroom website
- Be comfortable uploading and downloading saved files
- Have easy access to the Internet
