Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I get my money back if I don’t pass the exam(s) and/or the competency assessment(s)?
A: No. All payments are final. All exams must be passed with 75% or greater and all competency assessments must be passed with a 90% or greater. However, you will be given an opportunity to retake the exam(s) and the assessments, if necessary. Contact your instructor for retake information and retake request form.
Q: Do I need to do continuing education in order to maintain this certificate?
A: No. At this time, there is not a continuing education requirement in order to maintain this certificate. However, your state board of pharmacy or employer may have continuing education requirements related to sterile compounding, USP<797>, or IV certification. In addition, regulations regarding sterile compounding and aseptic technique are rapidly evolving. Refer to your state board of pharmacy as well as your facility policy and procedures to determine any special requirements for CE specific to sterile compounding personnel.
Q: Is this IV certification transferable from institution to institution, or from state to state?
A: Yes. This is a nationally recognized certificate in Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique for Pharmacy personnel. The CEUs earned are accredited by the ACC Pharmacy Technician Program, which is accredited by ACPE as a provider of continuing pharmacy education for pharmacists and technicians. NOTE: Your state board of pharmacy or facility may have additional requirements related to CEUs for SCAT personnel.
Q: Is this considered to be “IV Certification”?
A: Yes. This is an ACPE accredited certificate program in sterile compounding and aseptic technique, commonly referred to as IV certification.
Q: Do I have to purchase a new textbook?
A: Yes. The 2nd edition of the textbook has been updated extensively, making the previous version, and probably any used versions obsolete. You will also need to have online access to Cirrus for the videos for the course.
Q: What are the technical standards and essential functions required?
A: Technical standards and essential functions ensure that students have the abilities required to fully participate and potentially be successful in all aspects of their respective programs. Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination based on disability. Students who require a reasonable accommodation or modification as specified by the ADA, should work with GHAI’s student accessibility services (SAS) to submit required student accommodation paperwork.
